IN-PERSON & VIRTUAL SHABBAT SERVICES EVERY SATURDAY MORNING BEGINNING AT 9:00 AM!
YPC Shari-Eli is the only remaining conservative synagogue in South Philadelphia. Located in an area that once flourished with Jewish families, YPC Shari-Eli continues to operate through the good times and bad, even though the Jewish population in South Philadelphia has decreased dramatically.
In 1952, younger members of the Shari-Eli congregation, once located at 8th & Porter, broke away to form the YPC (Young People's Congregation) of their synagogue. The fact that YPC Shari-Eli has survived this long is truly a blessing and we would like to continue its operation. However, we sometimes struggle to form a minyan and are always looking for new members. That's where you come in.
Please join us for services! All are welcome!

Blue building at the corner of Franklin Street & Moyamensing Avenue. Between 7th & 8th Streets where Moyamensing Avenue intersects with Wolf Street.
These types of synagogues used to be prevalent in South Philadelphia. You could find one almost anywhere. Sadly, as the times changed, these small neighborhood synagogues slowly disappeared.
Here’s an interesting read from the Jewish Exponent talking about how the synagogue continues to survive:
We do not charge for membership and rely strictly on donations. We thank you for whatever you are able to give during these difficult times. We ask you to keep in mind the cost of operating and maintaining our shul. Your support means a lot to us.
